Obsidian Mercy – Jimmy Nyra – Reissue Lyrics
Note on the Lyrics of Obsidian Mercy
Please be aware that the lyrics included here may differ slightly from the version you remember. Jimmy Nyra was known for altering verses and delivery during performances and studio sessions—often reworking lyrics spontaneously based on emotion, energy, or setting.
The lyrics we’ve published are based on a recovered MP3 copy of the original demo CD-R. We’ve done our best to transcribe and clean up the audio, but due to the raw, underground nature of the recording, some vocal lines were difficult to decipher. If you notice discrepancies or have a copy with alternate lyrics, we’d love to hear from you. Every version helps preserve the legacy of this powerful and rare body of work.
Thank you for helping us keep the spirit of Obsidian Mercy alive.
Obsidian Mercy
Dragged her name through gravel prayers Felt the grind in every breath I built a shrine from shattered years Lit it with the heat of death
[Verse 1] I buried my voice in your silence Carved it with care in obsidian Where the pain can gleam and cut like glass Where sorrow’s not healed, but preserved to last
[Chorus] Mercy’s not forgiveness— Just the pause before the next collapse You held me like a promise And I broke like broken glass You said the past was ashes But I still choke on every spark Obsidian mercy— Sharp, black, and carved into the dark
[Verse 2 ] Tried to forget your eyes in flame Tried to scrape your ghost from skin But pain is patient, dressed in velvet And grief wears a liar’s grin You gave no absolution You offered no release Only a mirror in the coffin And a silence that wouldn’t cease
[Chorus] Mercy’s not forgiveness— Just the calm before the killing tide You held me like a secret I wore you like a lie And now I walk the hallways Where your voice used to breathe Obsidian mercy— Polished pain that will not leave
[Bridge] I kissed the blade and called it mine I named the scars, made each line divine Told myself I chose this grave But I still beg the night for one more wave
I worshipped the weight of what you left Hung halos made of wire and death I whispered your name into the smoke But mercy’s just the lie that hope once spoke
[Final Chorus] Mercy’s not forgiveness— Just the moment where the fire rests You touched me like a hymn And I bled through every breath You live in every silence In every sharp regret Obsidian mercy— I wear you like a debt
Burn the Cradle, Drown the Choir
I was born in a cradle made of wires and warning signs Blankets stitched from whispered fights behind bedroom walls Dreams like knives on my pillow, singing lullabies in code Every teddy bear stared back with hollow sockets full of blame
Mama said angels watched me sleep But they only ever screamed when I closed my eyes One night I lit a match just to see them run But fire doesn’t make you safe—it just makes you loud
[Chorus ] Burn the cradle, drown the choir Silence the song that lied to me Ashes don’t cry, and smoke can’t scream But I still hear them sing when I bleed Burn the cradle, drown the choir Let the flames teach the silence how to pray Innocence died the night I stayed And peace was the price I never got to pay
[Verse II ] There was a toy piano in the attic It played itself at night, notes bending like bones I asked who was there, no one answered—except the shadows So I learned to sing back in the same broken key My lullabies now sing in smoke and static And when I close my eyes—I only see red Red like the couch, red like her hands, red like the walls Red like the mouth that never told me I was safe
[Bridge ] They called it love but it felt like a trap They called it home but it smelled like rot They called it care but it came with a lock They called it family— But I called it… STOP.
[Final Chorus ] Burn the cradle, drown the choir Let the echoes choke the song Set fire to the myths they fed me Sing along—if you remember what’s wrong Burn the cradle, drown the choir Dig the grave where comfort died Let silence be the only hymn In this child of soot and sky
The Withering Heart Electric
Drip, drip… static down my spine. We were born analog, but baptized in the feed. Somewhere, I used to know how to feel. But now I just scroll through ghosts. We kissed through cracked screens, Love in 1s and zero dreams. Eyes locked through filters, Flesh wrapped in algorithms. A touch delayed, A word misread. But I kept sending signals To a sky that never answered.
[Verse I ] I pulse, but I don’t feel. I love, but I corrode. Heart like rusted wires, Nerves stitched in download code.
[Chorus ] Don’t say you miss me— I’m still buffering here. Withering heart electric, Still bleeding in your mirror. Remember the warmth before Wi-Fi? Back when silence still meant peace? Now we scream into the void And call the silence love.
[Verse II ] I saw your real face once— Not the one you share. It smiled like winter, And I never logged off again.
[Bridge] Love has failed to load. Reboot memory. System corrupted. Please… update… soul.
[Final Chorus] I pulse, but I don’t feel. I love, but I corrode. This was our forever— But we typed it in broken code.
[Outro] Glitched echo: And when I die, Bury me in your inbox. Unread. Unsent. Unseen.
Ash inside
[Verse I ] Ash in the veins, like prayer in reverse I light the end, but never bless the curse Smoke blooms black, a flower that won’t die Choke on peace just to hear it cry
[Bridge ] Silent static under my skin Needles know where I’ve been Ghosts don’t haunt—they sink and stain Whispers curl up in the drain
[Chorus ] (Chase the burn until it forgets your name) (Find the floor where numb becomes flame) (Breathe in sorrow, exhale truth) (What’s left of love hides inside the wound)
[Verse II] Mirror doesn’t lie—but it doesn’t care Face in the glass ain’t ever been there Sleep in a bed of ember and spit Dream of the needle like a lover’s kiss
[Bridge II] I used to climb into the sky of your eyes Now I fall through floorboards in my mind The flame forgives. The silence feeds. I forget what I need to need
[Chorus] (Chase the burn until it forgets your name) (Hope’s just hunger with another face) (Trade your soul for an hour of grace) (Tell the darkness: “I missed this place”)
[Final Verse] Ash in the veins… No saints in this fire No heaven in desire Just the hollow hush of the high And the lullaby that always lies
[Final Chorus ] (Chase the burn until it forgets your name) (My skin remembers, but the light won’t stay) (I gave it all to feel less pain) (And now there’s nothing left to save)
Static Angels
[Verse 1 ] I saw them once through the static haze Wingless halos lost in violet rays They moved like shadows caught in film Their lips were moving, the world stood still
[Pre-Chorus ] But I… I couldn’t read the lines they wrote in smoke I couldn’t scream the words they wrapped in hope
[Chorus ] They sang through snow-blind screens But the prayers came too late Each echo a scream Bouncing back off fate My angels died In a broadcast delay Dreams loop and rewind But never replay
[Verse 2 ] I burned a prayer into a cassette Played it backwards to forget It whispered truth I never knew That angels bleed and silence too
[Bridge ] They were guardians once… Tuned to the heartbeat of a kid’s first prayer But the channel went dead And now they sleep in electric air
[Final Chorus ] They sang through snow-blind screens But the prayers came too late I reached, but they leaned Into static and fate My angels wept On loop and decay Dead dreams kept On magnetic tape
[Outro ] One final whispered line: “I kept the tape. I still rewind it.”
Glassblister
(Verse 1) Shards for a smile, I tape up the grin. Bleeding light through broken skin. You ask how I’m doing— and I say I’m fine. But my voice is glass and it cracks every time.
(Chorus – shouted) Crack me sweet, Watch me drip like trust! Hold me tight— until I turn to dust! Don’t ask why my hands won’t close— I’m blistered where love used to grow.
(Verse 2) Every “I’m okay” is a razor I swallow. Every hug leaves bruises hollow. I danced through fire with glass in my boots— Just to prove I could still feel truth.
I am the cut that doesn’t bleed. The bottle that breaks without sound. I hide under smiles until the shards push out. There’s no cure for pretending. Only blisters, only burning.
[Final Chorus] Crack me sweet! Watch me drip like trust! Don’t hold back— I already rust! Your silence kissed where words should’ve screamed— You loved the wound, Not the scream.
Heirloom Wound
They wrapped it in silence / and stitched it in bone Whispers in the attic / names on no stone I was born already bleeding / but not from my own
What they held back / spills through my spine Hollow lullabies / in a cursed bloodline The smile was fake / but the bruise is real It’s not mine / but I still feel
He taught me fear in clenched teeth grace She drank the pain in a porcelain face We learned to smile with nails in our gums Heirlooms forged from where we came from
Can’t scream if no one else ever did So I write the echo they all hid The glass is cracked, the roots run deep This inheritance is what I keep
It’s not mine! But it bleeds in my hands! The truth they swallowed! Splinters where I stand! I carry their shadow! Like a birthmark brand! Broke the mirror! But I still see the man!
You gave me your silence / and I made it a song A legacy of pain / but I won’t pass it on The wound is mine now / I wear it out loud A generation lost / but I won’t be proud
Cut the thread / the stitch won’t hold The story’s old / but never told Burn the cradle, shake the tomb I’ll bleed it out / this heirloom wound
THIS—IS—WHERE—IT—ENDS—WITH—ME!
Nails Like Petals
She traced her name into my dust Left fingerprints in places I forgot Spoke in soft ruin, smiled like blood Every word dripped like melting rot
She touched me gently and left rust in the wound I bloomed in bruises just to feel her truth Every kiss was a tooth / every sigh, a scream And I thanked her For the ache For the dream
[Verse 2] My spine bent into her lullaby She wore a dress of ash and sighs She said “love me like the world is ending” So I let her carve her name in mine
[Bridge] She poured herself into my veins Velvet voice with chains inside Drank me hollow, left her stain Whispered “You’ll never survive without my eyes”
NAILS LIKE PETALS — TEAR ME CLEAN I’M BLEEDING BEAUTIFUL — AND UNSEEN RIP THE SKIN TO SAVE THE GLOW HER LOVE IS A WOUND — I’LL NEVER SEW
She was the storm I prayed would stay Even as the flood took all away I wore her love like a halo of rust And I’d thank her again If I still had a voice to trust
Iron in the Throat
I held my tongue Until it grew roots Bit the blood down Just to keep it cute Truth curdled in the corners of my mouth Like rusted wire choking itself out
I wore quiet like a crown But silence never saved a soul I stitched my warnings shut Until they screamed through every hole
My voice is a blade I honed in shame Forged in the dark To slice through blame
SPEAK IF IT BURNS SCREAM IF IT BLEEDS THE TRUTH DOESN’T WAIT FOR YOUR COMFORT OR YOUR CLEAN
IRON IN THE THROAT — RIP IT OUT I’D RATHER BLEED THAN CHOKE WITH DOUBT CONFESSION’S FIRE — TURNED TO FLAME YOUR PEACE WAS BUILT ON MY PAIN
The truth is not a whisper It is thunder wearing bones It’s the sound you choke on When you try to die alone
SHOUT ME UGLY SAY I’M WRONG BUT I’D RATHER BE BROKEN THAN SILENT TOO LONG
Swallowing silence never saved a soul And I refuse To rot In quiet
Cradle of Embers
I was born in a cradle of embers Rocked by ghosts with blistered hands They kissed my eyes shut with soot-laced lullabies And called it love while they lit the match again
I learned warmth was the heat of leaving The comfort of flames licking the edges of names The ashes taught me how to stay And the burn taught me my name
Don’t you dare Call this holy Don’t you dare Call this home I slept on nails And smiled through the blood Because you said That’s how we grow
CRADLE ME IN FIRE — IF THAT’S ALL YOU EVER HAD LOVE ME LIKE A FUNERAL — MAKE IT QUIET MAKE IT SAD
EVERY FLAME A NAME I LOST EVERY SCAR A CROSS I TOSSED DOWN INTO THE BED OF COALS WHERE I WAS FIRST HELD AND LAST LET GO
They say you shouldn’t blame The hand that fed the fire But what if that hand Held the match… And smiled? [
I WAS RAISED BY WHAT THEY NEVER SAID FED ON FEAR AND LEFT FOR DEAD BUT STILL I SING FROM THIS BED OF COALS A BROKEN LULLABY TO HAUNT YOUR SOUL
I still sleep in the cradle of embers Because the burn still feels like home
My Body Was a Burning Church
I took the hymns they gave me And carved them into skin Each verse a vow Each note a nail
[Verse 1] This body was once a temple Now it creaks like breaking pews The windows stained in sins I kept The rafters sagging from the truth
I bled my faith in candlelight Flesh on altar, voice gone hoarse I held their names inside my lungs Then sang them out in choking smoke
[Chorus ] My body was a burning church I housed belief, then set myself ablaze And no one came They watched the fire And called it grace
[Verse 2 ] They taught me how to kneel But never how to stand They crowned me holy Then fed me to the flames My ribs, the pews My breath, the incense My silence, the choir And my death, the benediction
[Chorus ] My body was a burning church I housed belief, then set myself ablaze The saints I prayed to Never stayed Only echoes in the haze
Beneath the Hollow Bells
[Verse] Crack the sky Let me drown Clouds weep ash Faith torn down Shadows creep Silence calls Broken idols Shattered walls
[Chorus] Ashes fall Belief decays Echoes lost in endless haze No salvation Void remains Whispered screams Eternal pains
[Verse 2] Your voice burned Turned to dust Faith eroded Left to rust Cold winds howl Spirit fades Buried deep in crumbling graves
[Bridge] Veins run dry The heart grows cold Truth dissolves No hand to hold Time a thief It steals the light Endless dark consumes the fight
[Chorus] Ashes fall Belief decays Echoes lost in endless haze No salvation Void remains Whispered screams Eternal pains
[Outro] Crack the sky The end is near Shatter hope Dissolve the fear Faith a lie No gods to see Drown me now Set me free
Skin of Smoke
[Verse] Fire falls down from the cracked sky’s seam Ash coats the ground in a fragile gleam Your hands are cold like the edge of steel Tell me this ache is something real
[Verse 2] The walls collapse with a ghostly moan Shadows stretch long where the light has flown Your breath is static my pulse is snow This haunted bond won’t let us go
[Chorus] Hold me ’til the silence screams Rip the threads of our broken dreams Shatter the echoes leave them torn From love’s decay we are reborn
[Bridge] Whispers bleed into a thundered roar We are the storm that breaks the floor Eyes locked like chains in the darkest night Craving the ruin craving the fight
[Verse 3] Every tear burns like a molten tide We drown in flames but we never hide You are my chaos my bitter art The ash will write us a bleeding start
[Chorus] Hold me ’til the silence screams Rip the threads of our broken dreams Shatter the echoes leave them torn From love’s decay we are reborn
Basement Gospel
[Verse] Your name carves shadows on my tongue Each syllable feels like a shattered lung God’s silence drips like oil on stone The feedback hums and I’m not alone
[Chorus] Screams don’t heal they tear apart Static blooms where there’s no heart Faith was a mirror that cracked in my hand Now I sing to the void where gods should stand
[Verse 2] Every promise was a matchstick lie A prayer’s just a whisper set to die The amps growl low like a beast in heat This ritual burns what I can’t defeat
[Bridge] Kneeling in the noise where angels fell Static baptism in a feedback hell I spit out the hymns they made me choke Each note’s a scar each word’s a joke
[Chorus] Screams don’t heal they tear apart Static blooms where there’s no heart Faith was a mirror that cracked in my hand Now I sing to the void where gods should stand
[Verse 3] This mic is my confessional wound I bleed into it in a distorted tune God never showed but the feedback did A scream in the dark where I once hid
Original Sirens of Sacrifice Lineup (2016–2018)
aka: The Obsidian Mercy Years (to the best of our knowledge)
James “Jimmy” Nyra – Lead Vocals, Lyrics, Additional Loops & Soundscapes
From Lorain, Ohio. Known for raw emotional delivery, often slipping between whispered poetry, guttural screams, and spoken word.
Jared “Snake” Vellin – Bass Guitar, Backing Vocals
Hometown: Flagstaff, AZ.
Known for his gritty, overdriven tone and stage presence. The only original member who would remain in the later version of the band. Snake was the grounding force to Jimmy’s chaos—often managing setlists and keeping the band tight on stage.
Tess Monroe – Rhythm Guitar, Backing Vocals
Hometown: Ogden, UT.
Played haunting chord progressions layered with subtle harmonics. Tess was the first to match Jimmy’s lyrics with deliberate melancholic textures. Also co-wrote early demos including “Ash in the Veins.”
Shane Alvirez – Lead Guitar
Hometown: Boulder, CO.
A post-metal guitarist with shoegaze sensibilities. Loved delay pedals and open tunings. Added many of the lush walls of sound on tracks like “Static Angels” and “Nails Like Petals.”
Chris “Stove” Danvers – Drums, Industrial Percussion
Hometown: Albuquerque, NM.
Earned his nickname for the hotplate he brought to practices to cook beans mid-jam. Stove played both standard kits and sheet metal noise rigs. Designed the beats for “Burn the Cradle, Drown the Choir.”
Lia “Echo” Bramwell – Keys, Ambient Noise, Backing Vocals
Hometown: Reno, NV.
Lia layered synth pads, VHS hiss, and even field recordings into the band’s earliest demos. Known for her ghostlike backing vocals and eerie stage lighting setups. Disappeared from the scene not long after Jimmy.
If you know any of the original members from the garage band years and underground tours –
please reach out to them and then to us we would love to hear from them!
