The Band: A Bio
Before the sonic cathedral of Dust Altar Saints was built, its members honed their craft in the murky depths of the Denver underground scene. The core trio of Ronald Crowe (Vocals / Lyricist), Ronan Vale (Guitars / Feedback Engineer), and Marvin “Brick” Dilly (Drums / Ritual Percussion) cut their teeth in a series of short-lived but fiercely creative projects. Crowe and Dilly were the rhythmic spine of the doom-laden collective known as “Fallen Chimera,” while Vale was the sound-warping genius behind the experimental noise-rock outfit, “Feral Static.” Their paths converged at a local gig, where a shared frustration with musical constraints led to a spontaneous, late-night jam session that birthed the foundational sound of what would become Dust Altar Saints.
Recognizing the need for a cohesive soundscape, they later brought in two crucial support members. Eleanor Vance joined as an Alternate Drummer and backup vocalist, her precise, technical drumming providing a stark counterpoint to Dilly’s more ritualistic style. Felix “Fingers” Sterling was recruited for Tech Support and additional instruments, his expertise with vintage synthesizers and sound engineering allowing the band to achieve the layered, otherworldly textures that are now a hallmark of their sound.
The group’s big break came when they passed a raw, five-song demo CD to renowned producer Vincent Krell at a local music event. Krell, captivated by their dense, hypnotic sound and esoteric lyrical themes, convinced them to sign with his newly formed label, Riffuge Studio Productions. The result is their highly anticipated debut, a full-length album that promises to shake the foundations of modern stoner metal.
The Album: “Apotheosis of the Void”
With Riffuge Studio Productions at the helm, Dust Altar Saints is set to release their first full-length album, “Apotheosis of the Void.” The band’s serious approach to their sound and the profound, buried messages in their music resonated deeply with the Riffuge team. The collaboration has been a perfect fit, a testament to shared artistic vision and a relentless pursuit of sonic excellence.
In a parallel project, the band is also working with sound engineers Sam Nolan Carter and Lily Mason to meticulously remaster that original five-song demo CD that started it all. This endeavor aims to give fans a glimpse into the band’s genesis, presenting the raw, unpolished beginnings with a newfound clarity that honors their past while looking to the future.
Riffuge Studio Productions, a label known for its grassroots, DIY ethos, is taking a major leap forward with Dust Altar Saints. Currently, the label is in the process of learning the skills to produce its first full-length music video, a groundbreaking visual accompaniment for one of the album’s tracks. This collaboration is more than just a record deal; it’s a partnership in creative evolution, with both the band and the label pushing the boundaries of what is possible within the underground music scene.
