There are weeks at Riffuge Studios that feel ordinary — endless cables, coffee mugs stacking up by the console, mixes bleeding into sunrise. And then there are weeks like this one. The kind that remind me why we do what we do.

Today, I get the honor of announcing something that’s been whispered about in our circles for months, but now it’s official: Lily Mason has released her debut album Static, and, yes, the rumors are true — Lily Mason and PryBirds’ frontman Vincent Krell are engaged.

This release isn’t just an album drop. It’s the beginning of a story that feels like it’s been written in the quiet corners of our Denver studio for years.

The Album: Static

Five songs. Five late-night confessions.

When Lily first sat down with me to play the rough sketches of what would become Static, she called them “fragments.” What I heard, even then, were foundations — moments of stillness, intimacy, and raw vulnerability that could only have come from someone finally deciding to give their own voice the same care they’d poured into others.

For those who don’t know, Lily’s been part of the DNA of Riffuge Studios for years. As both our Client Relations lead and a co-producer, she’s been shaping other people’s sound, often staying long after the board went dark to get mixes just right. But her own notebooks kept piling up. Her own songs waited. Until now.

Velvet Static – a reverb-drenched whisper of noticing someone for the first time, where the air itself changes.

4AM Hallelujah – the sound of a night drive home, where the quiet becomes its own kind of prayer.

Dark Dreams – minor chords and Vincent’s ghostly harmonies shadowing every line, questioning whether joy can last.

Electric Touch – hypnotic, pulsing simplicity, capturing a fleeting touch that sets everything ablaze.

Shadows In – closing the set in fragile intimacy, where voices blend but leave space for silence.

It’s not just music. It’s a late-night map of where Lily has been, and where she’s going.

The Story Behind the Sound

If you’ve ever been in Riffuge after midnight, you know the place has its own atmosphere — the dim light over the mixing desk, the hum of amps that never really die down, Denver’s city glow bleeding through the blinds. That’s where Static was born.

And that’s where Lily and Vincent’s story began, too.

Vincent Krell — the unmistakable voice of the PryBirds — was already a frequent presence around the studio. But somewhere in those long nights, something shifted. What started as trading notes and swapping rough mixes turned into lingering conversations, laughter across the console, and finally, new songs.

Vincent’s fingerprints are all over Static. His backing vocals, his quiet nudges in the recording process, and his energy pushed Lily’s music into being. Listening to the final record, you can hear it — the push and pull of two artists in sync, creating not just songs, but a shared moment in time.

The Big Reveal

When Lily shared Static with us, she also shared the other news: she and Vincent are officially engaged.

It’s the kind of announcement that feels inevitable when you hear the record. The chemistry isn’t just personal; it’s musical, woven into the fabric of these songs. For me, personally, this is one of those rare moments where studio life intersects with something bigger. Lily has been the backbone of Riffuge for years, and watching her step forward with her own music — and her own story — is exactly why we built this place.

Static isn’t just an album release. It’s a reclaiming. It’s Lily saying: I’ve been here all along, and now you get to hear me too.
